In recent news, the saga of Hunter Biden has turned into something similar to a Jerry Springer episode. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is having to deflect criticism on behalf of the Biden family. The reason for the uproar is the President’s refusal to acknowledge his seventh grandchild, who was born out of wedlock between his son Hunter and a former Washington D.C. stripper named Lunden Roberts.
The child’s name is Navy and is currently in the custody of her mother in Arkansas, and Lunden is at loggerheads with Hunter in a legal battle. Lunden is suing Hunter Biden for $20,000 monthly paternity payments, which Hunter has begged the court to decrease to some degree.
When a reporter asked Jean-Pierre about the paternity case and why the Biden family has not acknowledged Navy’s existence, things got tense. Emily Goodwin, a political reporter for the UK-based Daily Mail, was the one who brought up the situation during a recent White House press briefing. She asked Jean-Pierre, “I wanted to ask about the trial going on in Arkansas with Hunter Biden and the child support. Are the President and First Lady monitoring that? And how come they haven’t acknowledged the seventh grandchild?”
However, Jean-Pierre tersely replied, “I’m not going to speak to that from here.” James Rosen, the chief White House correspondent for Newsmax, also asked the same question, hoping that being asked a second time would prompt an answer. She ignored that attempt too.
To date, President Joe Biden and his adult son have never publicly acknowledged Navy as a member of the Biden family. Roberts has gone as far as to get a court-ordered paternity test, which solidified that Hunter was the baby-daddy.
Recently, the President Biden participated in a White House-sponsored “take your child to work day,” where, once again, no mention of Navy occurred. “The best part of it all, I have six grandchildren, and I’m crazy about them,” said the elder Biden. “I speak to them every single day. Not a joke.” Once again, six, not seven.
This situation must have created awkwardness around the Biden household. Hunter had to make a trip to Arkansas for court this week after Robert’s lawyers accused Hunter of dodging them and refusing to comply with a court order demanding he produce his financial records to justify his attempt to minimize child support payments.
The Independence County Circuit Court Judge Holly Meyer didn’t hold back on Joe’s son. In court, she openly called him out for providing merely redacted records. Hunter’s team claimed that it was to protect his privacy from being “somewhat abused.” Additionally, Roberts has attempted to legally change Navy’s last name, currently “Roberts,” to Biden.
Roberts’ lawyers say the reason is that the Biden name is “now synonymous with being well-educated, successful, financially acute, and politically powerful.” They also remarked that this would make permanent the fact that no one could deny her lineage, making her “known to the world” as a proper “member of the prestigious Biden family,” whether born out of wedlock or not, according to The New York Times.
Hunter was not happy about it, so now his legal team is fighting that one too. Hunter’s lawyer wrote, “The child should have the opportunity for input at a time when the disparagement of the Biden name is not at its height. The notoriety would not doubt rob this child of a peaceful existence.”
It seems as though Joe and Hunter Biden are doing their best to avoid Navy and her mother’s lawsuit. Hunter’s legal team has provided only redacted records, denying access to Robert’s lawyers. The name change to Biden is a further bone of contention.
All of this drama must have been challenging for the President Biden family, especially Joe himself. But it seems as though they are committed to keeping Navy out of the public and media eye and perhaps avoiding any negative consequences that could occur. Whether Hunter’s behavior that landed him in this predicament will come back to haunt him or not remains to be seen, but for now, the baby-daddy drama continues.
