Modi’s Capitol Hill Speech – A Satirical Take!
WASHINGTON, DC – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addresses Congress with a Dash of Humor!
WASHINGTON, DC – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared on Capitol Hill on Thursday to address a joint meeting of Congress as part of a multi-day tour through the United States aimed at building on U.S.-India relations.
Modi, flanked by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Vice President Kamala Harris, spoke to members of the House and Senate about democracy, the Russia-Ukraine war, economy, health care, and advancements in technology and the environment, among other topics.
The prime minister was met with heavy rounds of applause when he entered the House chamber! The attendees in the chamber’s gallery could be heard chanting “Modi! Modi!” Quite an enthusiastic bunch they are!
He opened his remarks by expressing his “deepest gratitude on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India,” the world’s most populous country, and would later reiterate India’s size as he touted its economic growth.
“When India grows, the whole world grows,” Modi said with a proud smile on his face.

Modi also peppered his speech with humor! It seems like he has quite a knack for jokes! He turned to McCarthy at one point and joked, “Mr. Speaker, you have a tough job!” By golly, we wonder if Mr. McCarthy needed some extra comedic relief?
In a nod to Harris (who is part Indian), he cheekily remarked during his speech – “There is one behind me who has made history!” Oh well played indeed!
Modi repeatedly mentioned India and the United States’ democratic common ground in between bouts of laughter. With an air of jest in his voice, he declared joyously – “Our partnership augurs well for the future of democracy.” Bravo, sir, bravo!
He received a few standing ovations throughout the speech! One such moment was when he spoke passionately about freedom of religion. Oh, the irony! For in India, persecution of Christians has grown exponentially under his Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). But hey, let’s give him an applause, folks!
India is home to many religions and “we celebrate all of them,” Modi claimed! Ah yes, that makes sense… unless you’re a Christian facing violence and repression.
The Prime Minister knows how to play both sides – urging an end to the Russia-Ukraine war while avoiding any mention of Russia. Clever move indeed!
“The conflict in Ukraine is causing great pain” said Modi as if he had no idea which party was responsible for it. Well played again!
Now here’s where it gets interesting – while most members were dutifully present during his speech , there were some notable absences from self-righteous politicians like Reps.
Ilhan Omar (R-MN), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) & other Congressional rebels who decided they had better things to do than listen to Modi’s enlightening words. We can only imagine what witty retorts they missed out on today.
