Becoming the proud owner of a reusable water bottle is like joining an exclusive club. You’re not just saving the planet from single-use plastic, you’re also giving your hydration game a major upgrade. It’s like being handed the keys to your own personal oasis in this desert we call life! And let’s be honest, everyone has their favorite drinking receptacle—just ask any WIRED staffer about their beloved beverage holder and they’ll talk your ear off. So, when it comes to choosing the best water bottle, go for one that will make you look forward to every sip.
However, don’t get too carried away and start hoarding bottles like some sort of crazed hydrator. Remember: having a dozen half-empty bottles lying around defeats the whole point of owning a reusable one in the first place.

Last updated February 2024: We’ve now included Hydro Flask in our top picks because nothing screams “I’m serious about my hydration!” quite like carrying around what essentially looks like an insulated thermos for soup. Plus there’s some additional info on brands using lead during manufacturing – no biggie… Just poisoning us slowly…

Ah, the age-old question: How Much Water Do You Really Need?
We all know water is important – without it we’d be as dry as a Martian desert. But when it comes to quantity…well, that’s where things get murky. The old eight-glasses-a-day rule isn’t one-size-fits-all – just like your grandma’s hand-me-down sweater. Your doctor can give you a more personalized recommendation based on how active you are or if you live in an area so hot even Satan would say “Nope!”. Bottom line: If you’re thirsty, drink!
The Mayo Clinic suggests about 20 percent of your daily fluid intake should come from food—so yes, soup totally counts—and adult men should aim for around 3.7 liters a day while women need roughly 2.7 liters a day (sorry ladies). Be warned though; drinking too much water can cause your sodium levels to drop faster than my motivation on Monday mornings! This condition is called hyponatremia and trust me—it ain’t fun! So unless you plan on guzzling down water like there’s no tomorrow, sipping from your reusable bottle throughout the day shouldn’t land you in hot waters.
