Minoru Kimura, the newest star in the RIZIN kickboxing ring, decided to make his debut one for the books. And boy, did he deliver!
This past weekend at RIZIN 43, Kimura unleashed a knockout that can only be described as outrageously mind-blowing. It was a moment straight out of a Hollywood script – if Hollywood scripts included more flying fists and less romantic comedies.
Just 68 seconds into his 161-pound kickboxing contest, Kimura cornered poor Daryl Lokoku like a hungry lion waiting to pounce on its prey. And pounce he did! With dizzying precision, Kimura launched a devastating left hook from above that turned Lokoku’s lights off faster than you can say “knockout”. The impact was so powerful that it triggered an instant freeze response and propelled Lokoku downwards onto the canvas in what could easily pass as synchronized fencing.
But oh no, my friends! Kimura wasn’t quite satisfied with just one punch-induced slumber party. As Lokoku slowly descended towards dreamland, our hero landed another left hand just for good measure. Because why not? If you’re going to send someone into unconsciousness once, you might as well do it twice; it’s common courtesy.
For those who missed this display of brute force and poetic violence live, fear not! Behold in awe as we present to you the replay of Kimura’s merciless masterpiece:
RIZIN 43, the event that witnessed Kimura’s stunning debut, took place at the majestic Makomanai Sekisui Heim Arena and was broadcasted live on FITE TV. A perfect setting for a night of jaw-dropping action and unexpected plot twists!
Speaking of unexpected plot twists, let’s move on to the main event where former featherweight champion Kleber Koike graced us with his presence… or at least he tried to.
Koike had grand plans of submitting Chihiro Suzuki with an armbar in Round 1, and believe it or not, he succeeded! But hold your applause because here comes the twist: Koike missed weight for what was supposed to be a championship bout. Well done, sir. Well done.
No-contest! No-contest! The crowd roared as they realized that all their hopes of witnessing history being made were crushed under the weight (pun intended) of Koike’s inability to step onto the scale like a responsible professional fighter.
The kingdom known as RIZIN has strict rules when it comes to fighters who can’t handle their own body mass. As expected, our hero Kleber Koike was forced to strip himself – metaphorically speaking – from his precious title due to his weight fiasco. It turns out that if you want victory in this promotion, capturing hearts alone won’t cut it; you also need proper weighing abilities.
