Cardi B is not too happy about the budget cuts proposed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. In a livestream reposted to X.com, she predicted that these cuts will make New York City an even more dangerous place. And who better to comment on city budgets than a Grammy-winning hip-hop star?
According to Cardi B, crimes are going to go through the roof because of police safety budget cuts. She’s also worried about her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends living in the hood. And let’s not forget about those rats! With sanitation budget cuts looming, we might as well prepare for a rat invasion.
But it doesn’t end there – Cardi B has some choice words for President Joe Biden too. While services are being cut in New York City, he’s out here funding wars against Russia and Hamas with financial assistance to Ukraine and Israel. It seems like priorities are all mixed up when you can barely fund your own country but have money for overseas conflicts.
The NYPD isn’t safe from these budget cuts either – their force will be reduced to just 29,000 cops by the end of fiscal year 2025 – the lowest level since the mid-90s! Looks like we’re heading back in time folks!
A revised budget of $110.5 billion is set to go before lawmakers next week for approval from lawmakers (because what’s better than bureaucracy?). According to Mayor Eric Adams himself: “To balance the budget as required by law every city agency dug into their own budget with minimal disruption” – so don’t worry guys; they totally know what they’re doing… right?
Patrick Hendry, president of the Police Benevolent Association had something else entirely different to say though: “This is truly a disaster for every New Yorker who cares about safe streets,” he said in response to Adam’s plan “Cops are already stretched thin and these cuts will return us staffing levels we haven’t seen since the crime epidemic of ’80s and ‘90s.” I mean really? Who needs safe streets anyway?
At this point it feels like everyone needs an extra side hustle or two just so they can afford personal security guards! What happened NYC? You used used be cool!
In conclusion while politicians argue over where funds should go people continue dealing with real-life consequences but hey at least we’ll always have Twitter updates right!?
