Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has a Grade 1 strain of his proper calf and will be re-evaluated in 1-two weeks, the group announced Thursday.
An MRI taken Thursday confirmed the strain.
Lillard suffered the injury with just more than 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Miami Heat. He went straight to the locker area and did not return.
After the loss, Lillard stated the calf felt a small tight just before tipoff and persisted all through the very first half of the game. He received remedy on it and place some compression on it at halftime, only to strain it in the third quarter.
“It wasn’t nothing at all that I was overly concerned with,” Lillard stated immediately after Wednesday’s game. “I just know that it would not make sense to attempt and push via it in the fifth game of the season.”
The Blazers host the Houston Rockets Friday evening. After that, Portland has a break just before hosting the Memphis Grizzlies subsequent Wednesday.
“Now I’ve just got to be wise, and make confident I’m having a couple of remedy sessions in each and every day, and just attempt to stretch it,” Lillard added. “So possibly not going to be playing that game on Friday. That will give me six days of possibly two sessions some days, 3 sessions other days, and attempt to be prepared for that one particular. We’ll see.”
