Ah, another night of MMA fighting at The Theater at Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta. This time, it’s PFL 4 and we’ve got the results for you right here.
In the main event, featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane faced off against Jesus Pinedo. Can we take a moment to appreciate that name? It sounds like a snack you’d get from Taco Bell – “Can I get two orders of Jesus Pinedos please?” Anyway, Loughnane has won nine out of his ten PFL fights while poor old Pinedo was still looking for his first win of the season. Spoiler alert: he didn’t find it this time either.
If that doesn’t excite you (it shouldn’t), we’ve also got co-main event action between Movlid Khaybulaev and Tyler Diamond. But let’s be real, these are just names to us until someone gets knocked out or submits.
For those who live under a rock (or don’t care enough about MMA), Thursday’s card featured the second half of the PFL featherweight and light heavyweight seasons. So basically what that means is if you missed this one, there’s always another chance to watch dudes beat each other up on ESPN+ later on.
But wait! Before you go running off to your nearest sports bar yelling “Shut up and take my money!” we’ve got all the results right here:
First up on the main card: Brendan Loughnane versus Jesus “I have yet to win” Pindeo. As expected, Loughnane came out victorious with an impressive TKO finish in round three – looks like someone needs some prayer circle guidance from their namesake!
Next up we have Movlid Khaybulaev versus Tyler Diamond (you know things are getting serious when alliteration comes into play). In a much closer bout than our previous match-up would suggest, Khaybulaev came out with the split decision victory. That’ll teach Diamond to rely on his name being flashy.
And then we have a fight between Marthin Hamlet and Sam Kei… who? We’ve never heard of these people before but apparently they’re important enough to make it onto the main card. Anyway, Hamlet (not related to Shakespeare) won this one by unanimous decision but only after Kei gave him a decent run for his money.
Bubba Jenkins versus Jo Sungbin saw another split decision win go down and we had high hopes since both fighters have cool nicknames but alas, sometimes life disappoints us all.
Onto Josh Silveira versus Delan Monte – which again, if you didn’t know any better, would sound like two new flavors at your local Starbucks. Unfortunately for Monte, he was TKO’d in round one and might need some extra whip cream on top of that sorrowful latte he’s about to order.
As for the preliminary fights on ESPN+, let’s just say there were some expected wins – Chris Wade beat Ryoji Kudo via unanimous decision while Abigail Montes fell to Brandy Hester through an armbar submission in round one (that sounds painful).
Overall a pretty exciting night if you’re into watching guys punch each other until one falls over or taps out crying “I’m done!” But hey, don’t worry too much if you missed PFL 4 because there will always be another chance to see someone get knocked around again soon enough!
